 Free draught proofing and energy advice service is available to anyone in Caithness & Sutherland area postcodes of KW1 to KW14 whom is:


§         In receipt of unemployment benefits/ESA/PIP


·         Retired/Pensioner


·         A Carer


·         Has a support worker


·         On a low income/Part time worker(under 16 hours)


·         In fuel poverty(struggling to pay energy bills)


·         Living with a disability/health concerns


Or secondly the service is also available to the general public for free energy saving advice


A fully qualified, disclosed Energy Advisor will undertake an assessment of the needs/issues in your property, in regards to reducing bills, reduce drafts on doors/windows, increase disposable income, explain/set up heating controls - systems and advise on help/funding/grants available to reducing carbon emissions(energy losses)


This is for private home owners, Highland council tenants, Housing associations or people with a private landlord, funded by Keep Scotland Beautiful from the Scottish Government


You will receive free energy saving measures that may be required as part of the Energy visit:-


I will fit: free hot water tank jacket/lagging, free draught excluders for door/windows, free external/internal door/window seals, free LED bulbs, free radiator reflector panelling.  A smart monitor may be loaned, some items as below

Facebook Draught Busting Caithness & Sutherland II

















Draft Busters II is a local project that is fully funded by the Scottish Government to help reduce carbon emissions in Caithness to help combat fuel poverty and reduce energy usage.  The project is currently funded to March 2017.

We offer impartial advice to help people in Caithness understand their utility bills, heating controls, secure better tariffs if needed, draught proofing and benefit entitlements/warm home discount.

Everyone in Caithness is entitled to have a home energy visit will receive free energy saving measures.

LED bulbs, hot water tank jacket, draught excluders for door/windows, external door/window seals will be fitted. A smart energy monitor will also be fitted and loaned.

First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon, announced on 16 March 2018 the award of £15.3 million for 110 community-led projects in the 24th round of grants from the Scottish Government’s Climate Challenge Fund Draught Busting Caithness & Sutherland II project run by Pentland Housing Association was awarded £45,832 Start Date: 1 April 2018 End Date: 31 March 2019 Pentland Housing Association's Draught Busting Caithness and Sutherland II project will help vulnerable households throughout Caithness and Sutherland to reduce home energy use, carbon emissions and levels of fuel poverty. Project activities include home energy advice visits from fully trained advisers who will also fit remedial draught proofing measures.
