Energy Performance Certificate Surveys

Energy Efficiency Illustration

Energy Performance Certificates (EPC) are documents that give the energy efficiency and carbon dioxide ratings of a particular building.

All existing domestic dwellings in Scotland that are sold, or rented out since 4th January 2009 must have an EPC, and have it displayed in the property.

Each property is given a rating from A to G on a coloured scale of 1 to 100:

  • A and 100 being the most efficient
  • G and 1 being the least efficient

For energy efficiency and carbon dioxide emissions. Each EPC provides recommendations to the householder on how to improve the efficiency of the dwelling which will help save energy, reduce bills and cut carbon emissions. When an EPC is awarded it is then valid for 10 years.

We are members of the BRE Scotland protocol scheme for the issue of EPCs for existing domestic dwellings in Scotland. If you are putting your house on the market, or have a new tenant moving in – we recommend you have an EPC.
